French Colonies: 1757-A Sou M PCGS MS63 – Colonials – Tied for Finest Known

Listed in the Guide Book of U.S. Coins as Billon Coinage, the 1757-A Sou M was struck by France as a general issue for colonial usage in the New World, playing a significant role in early-American commerce. Billon, a low-grade alloy of silver and copper, was used to produce these coins to provide affordable currency while still maintaining some intrinsic value. These coins circulated widely in the French colonies, including parts of present-day Canada and the U.S., making them an important piece of transatlantic history. This particular example, graded MS63 by PCGS, is one of only two in this grade with none finer. – Colonials

1884-O $1 PCGS/CAC MS66DMPL

A choice gem example of the southern branch mint silver dollar, with bold deep mirrors and a thick layer of frost across the motifs. Primarily white and fully brilliant, with no discernable flaws or distractions. CAC-approved gems with deep mirrors are very difficult to locate, as few meet their stringent standards. For accuracy, we note a chip in the reverse edge rail of the holder. – Morgan Dollar
